Experienced Studio Manager for Design-led Engineering Practice (Central London)

A highly regarded, design-focused engineering studio is looking for an organised and personable Studio Manager to join its London office.

This pivotal position sits at the centre of a collaborative team, combining day-to-day operational oversight with the chance to develop HR skills and take on wider responsibilities as the role evolves. It’s ideal for someone experienced in managing creative studio environments, who’s ready to progress their career within a supportive, design-driven practice.

Working closely with senior leaders, you’ll help ensure the studio runs efficiently, fostering a positive, inclusive, and well-structured environment where people can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

Studio Operations
Manage the day-to-day operations and upkeep of the studio and facilities
Ensure Health & Safety compliance and handle insurance renewals
Support leadership in maintaining office systems, policies, and procedures
Manage supplier and contractor relationships and oversee operational budgets
Coordinate internal communications, updates, and studio-wide events
Assist in planning team socials, wellbeing initiatives, and cultural activities

HR Support & Development
Maintain accurate HR records, policies, and documentation
Support recruitment, onboarding, and induction of new employees
Coordinate appraisals, training, and professional development programmes
Prepare payroll information and HR-related reporting
Build hands-on experience in employment compliance and HR operations, with the option to pursue formal HR training as the position grows

About you
Minimum of 2 years’ experience within a design or engineering studio in a management or operations capacity
Genuine interest in expanding HR skills and developing a long-term career in this area
Strong organisational abilities with excellent multitasking and attention to detail
Confident communicator who enjoys supporting teams and building strong working relationships
Professional, approachable, and discreet, with a proactive, can-do attitude
Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with HR software is beneficial
