Head of Commercial – Luxury Interior Craftsman/ Manufacturer

A design-led, craft-focused Luxury Interior Craftsman/Manufacturer is seeking a senior commercial leader to take enterprise-wide ownership of its commercial function.

Operating across London, and international markets, the company delivers exceptional private residential projects, combining design excellence with world-class craftsmanship.

Reporting directly to the CEO, this is a pivotal leadership role focused on strengthening commercial discipline, improving profitability, and building a scalable platform for international growth. You will work closely with senior leadership across design, finance, and operations to ensure projects are won, priced, and delivered with rigour and consistency.

Key duties

Lead the group-wide commercial function across estimating, tendering, pricing, contracts, and reporting

Drive bid strategy and oversee the full tender lifecycle from qualification through to conversion

Establish and chair tender reviews, pricing gateways, and executive sign-off processes

Improve bid quality, governance, and conversion through stronger selectivity and margin focus

Own commercial risk, contractual exposure, and margin integrity across all projects

Lead margin improvement and recovery initiatives across live and future projects

Strengthen cost assumptions, scope clarity, and change control discipline

Partner with Finance to improve forecasting accuracy, cash visibility, and reporting

Support senior client, consultant, and contractor engagement on key opportunities

Work closely with CEO, GMs, Design and Operations to align commercial strategy with delivery capability

Build and lead a high-performing commercial team across UK and US operations

Introduce scalable systems, controls, and governance frameworks to support growth

About you

Proven experience at Commercial Director or senior commercial leadership level

Background in luxury residential, bespoke interiors, joinery, fit-out, or high-end construction

Strong expertise in tendering, bid leadership, pricing strategy, and contract negotiation

Track record of improving margins, commercial performance, and project profitability

Experienced in leading and developing commercial and estimating teams

Strong financial and commercial acumen with the ability to influence at executive level

Comfortable operating both strategically and hands-on in complex bid environments

Highly credible with clients, consultants, and internal stakeholders
