On Saturday 13 September, the V&A East Storehouse will open its doors to the world’s first David Bowie Centre — the new permanent home for Bowie’s complete archive, accessible to the public in full for the very first time.
The Centre features nine rotating displays and over 200 items that trace pivotal moments in Bowie’s legendary career. Highlights include never-before-seen treasures such as The Spectator (his final, unrealised musical project), an unseen Ziggy Stardust guitar, handwritten lyrics, original costume designs, and personal notes, sketches, and photographs. Special selections curated by Nile Rodgers and The Last Dinner Party also feature in the displays.
Visitors can explore even deeper into Bowie’s legacy by booking one-on-one access to items from the archive’s 90,000+ pieces through the ‘Order an Object’ programme or via appointments with the V&A Archives team.
