The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) has announced the 15 finalists for the inaugural Middle East Awards, recognising the most innovative and socially impactful architectural projects across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.

The shortlist spans a diverse range of projects—from the world’s first purpose-built women-only mosque to the ambitious transformation of a former Saudi airport into what will become the world’s largest city park. It also includes the conservation of one of the UAE’s most ecologically rich nature reserves and an experience centre rooted in traditional Najdi design. Together, these projects highlight a regional shift towards architecture that prioritises innovation, sustainability and cultural identity.

The winner will be revealed during Dubai Design Week on 5 November 2025, with a dedicated awards event to follow on 7 November.
