Designed by BIG for the Basque Culinary Center, GOe–Gastronomy Open Ecosystem has opened at the foot of Mount Ulía in San Sebastián as a new international hub for gastronomy, innovation, and collaboration. While final works continue on the rooftop park and surrounding landscape, the building is already fully operational, hosting a diverse range of activities, from science-based food lectures to hands-on culinary workshops.

Conceived as a platform for exchange, GOe brings together chefs, researchers, and entrepreneurs to explore how food can contribute to a healthier and more resilient future. Clad in Corten steel, the building is composed of stacked volumes that respond to the sloping site, forming a stepped, publicly accessible terraced roof. Strategic cuts and recesses introduce large openings that reveal the kitchens, laboratories, and classrooms within, reinforcing GOe’s ambition to operate as an open and transparent environment where its daily life remains visible from the exterior.
